Also as you know here at Lily's Little Learners we love to showcase our favourite books we read and write about books and so when WILF books got in touch with us to do a review we could not say no!
WILF books is a book subscription service but with a difference. The founders Callum and Amelia are all about sharing and so have set up a clever little way to help children learn how to share but at the same time redistribute unwanted books and find them homes with children who may love them.
I think everyone has some books that are on the book shelf that don't often get read or even touched and it does seem a shame, as although your child doesn't like the story, some other child may.
So we were sent a months subscription from WILF books and here is what we think.
Our parcel turned up and inside was 3 books, some stickers, a chart and a lovely note from Wilf the Elephant.
The books you receive are all second hand but in really good condition. Out of the books we were sent there was only one book that you could slightly tell was second hand.
So how does Wilf Books work?
When you sign up, you fill out a little form all about your child and what kind of books they may like. WILF books then finds books that are best suited for them from the information you have told them. You can also decide if you would like to send WILF books a book back and they will send you a pre paid envelope to do so.
So what did Lily think of the books WILF books chose for her?
(Please excuse the dummy in the photographs, Lily is one tired little monkey today haha)
Peppa Pig - Tooth Fairy
Lily was super excited when she saw Peppa in her book bundle. Peppa is currently one of her favourite characters and so she screamed out Peppa as soon as she saw her and wanted to read the book straight away. This was definetly a good choice for Lily. The story is one of the episodes that is on the TV where Peppa gets to experience the Tooth Fairy.
Smiley Shark
This book was a lovely choice for Lily, the pages were lovely and colourful, not to many words in but just enough to keep Lily engaged. Its a great story all about a shark that smiles and because he has big teeth, the other fish and people are scared of him. This book is a Little Tiger Press book which I know is a really good make and so one we are really happy to receive. It also comes with a CD at the back which we love.
Starlight Sailor
To my surprise this ended up being Lily's favourite of the bunch. Its also mine. The story is a lovely bedtime story and has really nice rhyming to it. Which Lily loves. It also has lots of stars in it and Lily is really interested in stars at the moment. So again a really good choice for Lily.
We currently don't have any books to send back to WILF books but if we decide to carry on our subscription with them then its something we would love to do. You can get a months subscription, a 3 months subscription or a 6 months subscription.
Head to the WILF books Website to find out more about subscriptions.
