As soon as everyone starts seeing the sun coming out, the first thing people think of is summer time! We all long for the days out in the sunshine and can't wait to get on our shorts and get out our BBQ's. But June has only just started and we have already seen loads of sunshine and in fact I have already attended one BBQ. So far May and the start of June has already been filled with lots of things we do in summer. Picnics, ice creams, long sunny walks, playing in the sand. So when does summer actually start?
A survey of over 2000 people carried out by Little Tikes found that despite the official start of summer being the Solstice on 21st June, the majority of UK residents (over a quarter) class the first week of June as the start of the holiday season. In fact, just one in ten thought the start of summer was the Solstice week and some thought it wasn’t really summertime until the schools break up for holidays.
With over 63% of Brits stating that summer is their favourite season, perhaps more surprising is that less than a quarter (23%) said that warm weather heralded the start of the season for them.
For one in ten Brits, summer officially starts with the smell of cut grass, whilst for others, it is the smell of the well-loved BBQ, the sound of children playing outdoors, the first spray tan of the year or even, the Queen’s Birthday. An unlucky 3% of Brits know it’s summer when their Hayfever symptoms kick in and the same number believe the season starts when they book their official summer holiday.
Almost half of those asked didn’t feel they spend enough time outdoors during the summer months and would like to change it.
Said Michelle Lilley, Head of Marketing for Little Tikes: “It’s no surprise that Summer is the favourite season for us Brits – especially with the weather we’ve had this May. There’s nothing better than getting outdoors with all the family and being able to have fun together in the sunshine and that’s something that Little Tikes celebrates.”
This summer, Little Tikes is calling on all Brits to make the most of the season by spending time together outdoors. The brand offers a full range of outdoor play products – from playhouses, sandboxes and water tables to the iconic Cozy Coupe. It also launched the new Fun Zone range this season - which features toys like Splash Face, Dual Twister, Tumblin’ Tower and Drop Zone - which can be used indoors or outdoors with a water-play twist!
We for sure will be spending more times out doors this summer. We already plan to take a walk over to the park later and we plan to make the most of outdoor time with our Little Tikes outdoor toys, including the Sizzle and Serve Grill we have been recently sent by Little Tikes.

Being outside at 8pm ! Kids playing adults relaxating
ReplyDeleteHas to be the start of nicer weather and lighter nights for me. I've looked at lots of Little Tikes stuff lately to encourage my kids to play in the garden and will probably choose this cool water table I've seen. My oldest loves aging with water and what better way to stay cool on hot days

ReplyDeleteI think most of us think of sunshine being a sign / signal of summer. As tends to be the season ( 1/4) of the year which has the best chance of warm - hot, bright, dry ( less rain), sunny weather.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite season is Spring, as it is a time of renewal, new life :- green leaves on trees, nests in trees, birds chirping, flowers coming into bloom, lambs in the fields, etc, etc. Rain happens, "April Showers Bring May Flowers ". Rain brings fresh water, water is needed in order to live. Water is fun to swim in. Water is refreshing to drink. Summer weather can sometimes be too hot for me. Though Summer is when many may have a holiday, and likely associated with summer. Though I like a holiday, at various times of the year if / when possible.
Summer can be fun, as it may be a time when we might get the opportunity to catch up on some quality time :- Relaxation, Social Contact meeting family, friends, making new contracts, etc.
Little Tikes have great quality products. Thanks for sharing information, as range seems to be increasing. Hoping everyone gets some wonderful opportunities to enjoy good weather, good times, Summer, memorable happy occasions, etc Enjoy!

This week is Carers Week. This year is the Year of the Young Person. Maybe the two can be blended by Intergenerational outdoor time :- Perhaps making the most of the Beautiful weather. A visit to the park. Some time in the garden. Picnic. Community Event in park ( Garden, play park, animal corner, etc) for Fathers Day:- A nice way to include various Celebrations, Members of the Community, activities, interests, etc. Inclusive.

As we are still at the beginning of the Summer months. Wondering what future Summer months will bring. We have had such wonderful summer sunshine. Then some sudden rain showers ( understandable, given we have had such heat).
ReplyDeleteCan be so nice to be able to get outdoors without being too heavily laden. As uncertain weather:- Practical to have layered clothing. Can increase layers, or reduce layers, as and when required.
Some people may not be venturing far from home gives the recently and frequent rises in fuel costs. Hopefully local communities will be able to provide events for a variety of age ranges. As if will not be too long now till the School Summer Holidays. Children and adults are in need of healthy activities and entertainment, etc.
