Why I Dream of a Home with Roof Windows

One thing I have always felt a little bit jealous about is seeing roof windows in peoples homes. As a lover of photography, natural light is an essential thing for me and having a home with plenty of light flooding in is something I have always wanted.

Did you know that having a roof window can really make a room feel more airy and spacious. It can make a room that would feel quite closed in more open and you would find you would probably want to spend more time in there.

The last few homes Ive lived in, it has never been possible to have a roof window installed. You would need something with an extension, or they could be used if you are having a loft conversion or generally any sloped roof would work.

I have always been the sort of person who would sit and plan out her dream home, and with natural light in mind, I would love an extension with some roof windows in.

As well as making my home feel fresher, these windows would really help my photography. The light you can get from these windows is so nice, especially at midday when the sun is at its highest. It would make taking photographs a lot easier and improve the portraits I take of my daughter.

You can buy many sizes of windows that would fit your home and you can see a range of roof windows from Velux who have led the way in designing roof windows for 75 years. In my dream home I would have 3 large windows in a row meaning I could look out and see the blue sky. That being when the clouds move away to be able to see the sky, but even if they don't, what would have been a dark home is suddenly filled with more light.

So when viewing a future property, the roof which is something I would never normally think of looking at, would now be one of my top priorities so then roof windows would no longer have to be a dream.

Would you install roof windows into your home?

  3. Not at option presently. Though I certainly would consider it in a different property, particularly good when there has been a loft conversion :- In my opinion.
