After such a lovely weekend of sun we weren't very happy to welcome back the rain, but that being said it was nice to take a break from being on the go all the time and spend some time indoors.
If we are staying in I do like to try and do some sort of activity with Lily and so today we decided that we were going to make some sticking pictures.
Lily has never enjoyed this sort of thing until recently and would normally run off and be more interested in her toys. But last week at play group she sat for a whole half a hour making sticking pictures. Here is the one I just loved and brought home for the fridge.
So seen as Lily really enjoyed it at playgroup I thought I would give it a try at home.
I firstly got Lily some card and crayons so she could decorate it first. Lily loves drawing and colouring and is getting really good at it. She will happily sit and make nice pictures for ages.
Then when she had finished drawing I covered the paper in glue from a glue stick and gave her some things to stick down. Lily doesn't understand that the things need to be stuck where the glue is put so I'm currently having to put it all over the page.
I'm currently building up on things for her to stick down and so far I have foam shapes, tissue paper and cut up ribbon.
I was quite surprised at how much Lily enjoyed doing this and she mostly liked to stick the foam shapes down. I had to encourage her to try and use other things to. I thought that after 5 min she would have run off to her toys but she did a full picture and then wanted another piece of card to do another.
I'm really glad I have found a activity that Lily loves to do and going to be finding all sorts of things for her to stick down now. It's the perfect rainy day activity and such a quick one to get out and do.
Here are her finished results.
What's your favourite rainy day activity?
