Bathing the Baby Activity
Lately Lily has ben really interested in her dolls which she calls "Baby". She is getting really good at giving the baby a bottle and rocking the baby and giving it a blanket. So I thought it would be a nice activity to bath the baby.
Lily enjoys bath time and when she is in the tub she will take her cloths and wash things and wash herself. So I thought she would love this activity.
I bought her a plastic bathtub and then a plastic doll that came with a towel which only cost me £5. Perfect for getting wet.
This activity is great to do with Lily's age onwards, its brilliant for the imagination and knowledge and understanding of the world. You can also teach them all the things you do in the bath. If they don't already know that is.
I set up the tub filled with bubbles and placed the baby next to it with its towel. I tried to encourage Lily to put the baby in the water but she wasn't having any of it. So I placed the baby in the water for her. I showed Lily how to wash the baby and tried to give her the cloth but she backed away almost like she didn't like the water. I put some water on Lily's hand to show her its just water, but she didn't like that and held out her hand to be dried. So for us the activity was a miss. But maybe when she is older she may like it and I will re visit it.
For now, here are some images of the activity. Maybe your child may enjoy it a little more than Lily did.
If anyone does this activity I would love to know what your child though of it.

Lovely idea - Pickle is very funny about his hands, dirt and water etc. He would either love this or hate it! Kaz x
ReplyDeleteI never liked baby dolls when I was little, the idea of being a grown up and looking after a baby was a million miles from where I wanted to be. It was all about teddy bears for me;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea for children who want to help with bathing. x
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of doing something like this but I'm not a mam so thats probably why! I think its a great idea though as so many little ones love playing with dollies xxx
ReplyDeleteLovely idea this is. My daughter would love this a lot.
ReplyDeleteI did this with my daughter and granddaughter and they both loved bathing their babies
ReplyDeleteHow lovely is that! it would be great for a little girl who has just had a baby brother or sister and could copycat bath time - a real sharing moment (Kin Styles)
ReplyDeleteAww, bless little Lily. I'm sure she will love water play in no time! We've bathed dollies lots, my son loves it! We had a doll with hair, so I let him use a bit of shampoo so he could wash the hair too. Think he loves dollies just as much as his little sister haha
ReplyDeleteWe have bought Poppy a baby Annabell for Christmas, and we are going to buy a doll bath so that she can do this too :) x
ReplyDeleteAhh what a lovely activity! My 4 year old is in reception now and they are doing something called 'roots of empathy', a couple go in with their baby every so ofter and the children learn about the babies milestones etc. My daughter keeps telling me 'love makes brains grow' which she was told at one of the sessions, really sweet :)
ReplyDeleteI need to store this idea away for when my daughter is old enough
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely idea

ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves to try and bath her doll but I haven't let her yet as it was too expensive lol. I will try and find one that you can actually put in the water, this will keep her happy and entertained

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see my granddaughters again and we can bath her dolls. It's always so much fun.
